S / S2 = Main flow limitation — both working ports A and B have throttle/check combos to control actuator speed. "S2" is typically a later variant with refined adjustment or internal details.
P = Pilot flow limitation (throttles pilot lines of pilot-operated directional valves).
T = Tank line throttling.
Choose S/S2 for controlling cylinder or motor speed; choose P for adjusting valve switching time.
Q2: How is this valve installed in the stack?
A: Place the Z2FS10 between an NG10 directional control valve and its subplate/manifold. The side marked toward the directional valve contains the adjustable orifices (throttled direction A₁→A₂, B₁→B₂); the opposite side (facing subplate) contains the free-flow check valves. Tighten the four M6 bolts evenly to ~20–25 Nm in a cross pattern.
Q3: Which direction is throttled and which is free-flow?
A: Flow from the directional valve (A₁/B₁) toward the actuator (A₂/B₂) passes through the adjustable needle orifice — use this to set speed. The reverse flow (actuator → directional valve) lifts the check valve seat and returns unrestricted (no restriction). Need reverse-direction speed control? Add a second Z2FS on top or use a meter-in/meter-out circuit layout.
Q4: Why would I choose the FKM (Viton) version over the standard NBR version?
A: The V suffix = FKM seals, which resist:
Higher temperatures (up to +80°C vs. +70°C for NBR)
Water glycol (HFC) and phosphate ester (HFD) fire-resistant fluids
If you're using standard mineral oil only, the NBR version is adequate and lower cost. For HFC/HFD or high-temp service, FKM (this part) is required.
Q5: What causes unstable speed or valve blockage?
A: Main causes:
Contamination — the needle orifice is very small; maintain ISO 4406 20/18/15 and use a 10 µm return filter.
Lock nut over-tightened — can shift the spindle setting; snug only.
Pressure fluctuation — needle throttles are notpressure-compensated; large ∆P swings affect flow slightly (use a pressure-compensated flow control if tight speed regulation is needed).
