Product Introduction
The Rexroth A4VSO125DFR/30L-PPB13N00 is a genuine German-manufactured A4VSO series open-circuit axial piston variable pump, equipped with DFR pressure & flow compound control. With a displacement of 125 cm³/r and PPB13 SAE compact flange & ports, this pump allows both the system pressure limit and pump flow demand to be set via external hydraulic pilot signals (ports X and Y).
The DFR control is the classic load-sensing compatible option — the pump delivers only the flow demanded by the circuit while maintaining a pressure margin above load pressure, reducing heat generation and energy consumption. The compact PPB13 porting makes it well suited to manifold-mounted industrial hydraulic power units, machine tool skids, and process plant systems.

DFR Pressure & Flow Compound Control - How It Works
Unlike DR (pressure only) or EO2 (electric signal flow), DFR uses hydraulic pilot pressure for both settings:
  • Pilot Port X → Sets the maximum pressure compensator value (like DR, but pilot-adjustable)
  • Pilot Port Y → Sets the flow demand / displacement proportionally to applied pilot pressure
  • When used with a load-sensing directional valve, port Y senses downstream load pressure + margin → pump delivers only required flow, reducing heat and energy
  • Built-in pressure cut-off prevents over-pressurization
  • Ideal for systems with varying flow demands and where electrical controls are not preferred or pilot hydraulics are already present

Q1: What is the difference between DFR and DR control on A4VSO?
A1: DR controls pressure only (spring or pilot set) and the pump typically runs at max displacement until pressure is reached. DFR adds a flow control pilot port (Y) so displacement — and thus flow — can be commanded by hydraulic pilot pressure, enabling load-sense operation and on-demand flow.
