What is this valve?

A direct-operated, cartridge-type relief valve. Set pressure: 400 bar. Flow rate: 2 L/min. Primary uses: high-pressure protection, damping, and back-pressure in small circuits.

DBDS vs. DBDH – What’s the difference?

  • DBDS:​ Direct-operated. For high pressure, very low flow (2 L/min). Extremely fast response. Used for shock absorption, counterbalance, and pilot circuits.

  • DBDH:​ Pilot-operated. For high flow (e.g., 60 L/min). Used as the main system relief valve​ with remote control capability.

Can it handle high flow?

No.​ Its rated flow is only 2 L/min. Exceeding this will cause excessive pressure, overheating, and valve failure.

Does it have remote control or unloading?

No.​ It lacks a remote control port (Y port). Pressure can only be set locally​ via the adjustment screw. It cannot​ be used for remote pressure control or system unloading.

How is it installed?

  1. Install into a manifold with a bore to ISO 7368 NG6​ standards.

  2. The external drain (X port) must be piped separately and directly to the tank​ with very low back pressure (< 5 bar).

How to adjust pressure?

  1. Remove the protective cap. Turn the adjustment screw with a hex key.

  2. Clockwise increases​ pressure. Counterclockwise decreases​ pressure.

  3. Adjust only under flow conditions​ (circuit loaded) while monitoring a pressure gauge.

Common causes of failure or noise?

  1. Excessive back pressure on the X (drain) port​ (most common).

  2. Fluid contamination causing poppet sticking/chatter.

  3. Air in the hydraulic system.
