Q1: What is the difference between "A" and "B" versions of 2FRM6?
A:
2FRM6A… = Throttling in A → A₁ direction (meter-in control when valve is between directional valve and subplate on Port A). Free return A₁ → A via check valve.
2FRM6B… = Throttling in B → B₁ direction (meter-in on Port B).
Choose based on which actuator line you want to control. For bidirectional speed control, two valves (one A + one B) are typically stacked.
Q2: Why does this valve need an external drain (Y port)?
A: The integrated pressure compensator (which keeps ∆P across the orifice constant) requires a zero-backpressure drain to tank (Y port) to sense and balance correctly. If the Y line is blocked or sees backpressure, the compensator will malfunction and flow will become unstable. Run Y directly to the tank reservoir.
Q3: How accurate is the flow vs. a simple needle throttle (Z2FS6)?
A: Unlike the Z2FS needle valve (which is notpressure-compensated), the 2FRM6 has a pressure compensator that maintains a constant pressure drop across the orifice. This means the set flow stays nearly constant despite load-induced pressure fluctuations on P or A — ideal for consistent cylinder speed control. Accuracy is typically ±3–5% of set flow within rated ∆P.
Q4: The valve is set for 0.03–1.5 L/min — can it be used for higher flows?
A: No. The "1.5Q" code fixes the maximum flow at 1.5 L/min. For higher flows (e.g. 6 L/min, 16 L/min), select a 2FRM6 with a different Q-code (e.g. /6Q, /16Q). Oversizing the flow range reduces fine-adjustment resolution — match the Q-range to your application.
Q5: Why FKM (Viton) seals and what if I use mineral oil only?
A: The V suffix = FKM seals, required for:
Higher temperature service (up to +80°C)
Water glycol (HFC) or phosphate ester (HFD) fluids
For mineral oil only at ≤70°C, an NBR-sealed version is acceptable and slightly lower cost. The FKM version (this part R983032394) gives broader fluid compatibility and higher temp rating.
